UI/UX Designer Intern

  • Lagos, Lagos

We are looking for motivated interns to join our product and engineering team. These roles are suitable for recent graduates or early-career professionals who want hands-on experience building real-world digital products while working alongside experienced developers, designers, and product team members.

Role Overview

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer Intern to help design intuitive, modern, and visually consistent digital products.

You will work with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs, organize complex workflows, design interfaces, and improve the overall experience of our applications.

This role goes beyond making screens visually attractive. You should be interested in understanding how users move through a product, what information they need, and how to make complex processes easier to understand and use.

Training & Project Requirement: This role requires that the individual should have completed a relevant training. A personal or group project is acceptable following this — and even better, prior experience on a live project is considered an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity UI designs.

  • Design responsive web and mobile interfaces.

  • Translate product requirements into clear and usable interfaces.

  • Improve existing application screens and workflows.

  • Help define navigation, information hierarchy, and page structure.

  • Design dashboards, forms, tables, cards, modals, onboarding flows, and other product interfaces.

  • Create and maintain reusable design components.

  • Contribute to the company's design system.

  • Work closely with developers during implementation.

  • Review implemented interfaces and identify differences from approved designs.

  • Conduct basic UX research and competitor analysis when necessary.

  • Consider loading, empty, error, disabled, success, and edge-case states during design.

  • Create prototypes to demonstrate user interactions and flows.

  • Ensure designs remain visually consistent across the application.

  • Organize Figma files and components properly.

  • Participate in product discussions and design reviews.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with Figma.

  • Understanding of UI design fundamentals.

  • Understanding of UX principles and user-centered design.

  • Knowledge of typography, spacing, layout, color, hierarchy, and visual consistency.

  • Ability to create wireframes and prototypes.

  • Understanding of responsive design.

  • Basic understanding of design systems and reusable components.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing SaaS products, dashboards, marketplaces, fintech products, CRM platforms, or management systems.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.

  • Understanding of accessibility.

  • Experience conducting usability testing.

  • Familiarity with developer handoff practices.

  • Experience creating component libraries in Figma.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong visual and analytical thinking.

  • Attention to small design details.

  • Ability to simplify complex workflows.

  • Curiosity about user behaviour.

  • Willingness to receive feedback and improve designs.

  • Ability to explain design decisions rather than relying only on aesthetics.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

General Internship Requirements

Candidates should:

  • Be recent graduates, self-taught professionals, or individuals building early careers in their chosen field.

  • Have basic knowledge of the role they are applying for.

  • Be willing to learn and work on real products.

  • Be able to communicate effectively with team members.

  • Be responsible with assigned tasks and deadlines.

  • Be comfortable receiving constructive feedback.

  • Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and willingness to improve.

  • Have access to a reliable computer and internet connection where remote work is required.

Previous professional experience is not mandatory. Personal projects, school projects, portfolio projects, open-source contributions, or other demonstrations of practical ability may be considered.

What Interns Will Gain

Interns will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on real production-oriented software projects.

  • Monthly stipend

  • Collaborate with developers, designers, QA, and product stakeholders.

  • Learn professional development and design workflows.

  • Use Git/GitHub, Figma, project-management tools, and modern development technologies.

  • Participate in code/design reviews.

  • Improve their portfolio with practical experience.

  • Learn how products move from requirements and designs to development, testing, and release.

  • Receive mentorship and technical feedback throughout the internship.
